Allergy Remedies - Knowing Your Allergen

Pollen allergy develops during the Spring from tree pollen, early summer from grass and weed pollen and in the Autumn also from weed pollen. If you only develop allergy symptoms during one of these times then there is a good chance you are suffering from pollen allergy. Allergy remedies need to be able to deal with the affects of the allergens on the body. Some weeds that cause hayfever include ragweed, Russian thistle, sagebrush, pigweed and timbleweed. Some grasses that cause hayfever include timothy, bermuda, bluegrass, orchard and a sweet vernal.

Pollen irritates the nasal passages causing the mast cells to release histamine resulting in allergic rhinitis and other symptoms associated with pollen allergy. Allergic rhinitis causes inflammation and increased secretion of mucus which results in a contest in and a runny nose. Other allergens include mold spores, pet dander and dust mites.

As well as affecting the nose of pollen allergy can also affect the throat causing itching and scratching and the larynx where it can cause a hoarse voice or even voice loss. It can also affect the airways and trachea which can cause asthma and bronchitis.

Dark circles beneath the eyes caused by more blood flowing near the sinuses
Watery eyes
