Allergy Remedies - Using a Neti Pot

Neti Pots have proven one of the most effective, non-medicinal allergy remedies. They are used to flush out the nose frontal sinuses with saltwater which removes the allergens that cause the problem. They have been used for thousands of years in the East but have recently become popular in the West.

How To Use a Neti Pot

A cup of lukewarm water containing half a teaspoon of non-iodized salt is placed in the Neti Pot. Leaning over the sink with your head to one side the spout of the neti pot is introduced into one nostril and the saltwater gently flows out of the nostril on the other side. After using half the water in the pot on one nostril the spout is introduced to the other nostril. It is important after using the neti pot that you dry your nose thoroughly. Hang your head down towards the feet, breathe out through the nose 10 times then tip your head sideways and repeat. Tip your head the other way and repeat again. Stand up. Breathe out through the nose 10 times then close the nostril with a finger and breathe out through the other side, then repeat with the other nostril.
